We teach how to apply the principles taught in the Word so that you will be able to live the abundant and victorious life that Jesus came to give each and every one of us. Our Mission is to continually build a church that is relevant, and actively making a difference in the peoples lives by constantly recognizing and meeting their needs. While at the same time, pursuing and teaching the Word of God and providing an atmosphere for positive relationships to grow and develop. COTD is a worshipping, witnessing and welcoming church. Our services provide an atmosphere for praise and an awareness of the presence of God’s Spirit. The welcoming feeling of “genuine love” is what you will experience at COTD. - We Believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible (unalterable) word of God, written by the Holy Ghost. (2 Peter 1:20-21)
- We Believe in one God who is infinite in power, omniscient and omnipresent, as well as possesses holiness in nature, attributes, and purpose. (Revelation 19:6)
- We Believe that he was revealed to us as father in creation, as son in redemption, and as Holy Spirit in his comforting grave that never leaves those who trust him. (Genesis 1:1; Colossians 1:14; Psalm 84:11)
- We Believe that in Jesus dwells all the fullness of the Godhead body, for it pleases the Father that in him should all the fullness dwell. (Colossians 1:18-19)
- We Believe in the virgin birth of Jesus Christ; that he is the Son of God and the Son of Man; that he came to save man from condemnation of sin by offering his blood as atonement and making it available to all who exercise faith in him. (Matthew 1:18-23; Luke 1:31, 35; John 3:16; 2 Corinthians 5:21)
Our Pastor.
James E. Shackelford, a native of Ohio, is the founder of Church of the Deliverance located in Killeen, Texas. He has been serving in the ministry for 20 years. Pastor Shackelford was born on August 31, 1963 on Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio; upon graduation from high school, he joined the U.S. Army. From 1981 to 1990, Pastor Shackelford traveled the world from duty station to duty station. In April 1992, Pastor Shackelford deployed to California for an NTC exercise. It was during this deployment in the desert that he experienced a religious turning point and on Easter Sunday, he gave his life to Christ. Pastor Shackelford was sent to Germany where he was called into the ministry. While in Germany he was able to teach and preach at a local church, and also served as a military chaplain. Upon redeployment, Pastor Shackelford grew weary of looking for a church, which led him to begin teaching Bible Study from his home. Pastor Shackelford served in the ministry unselfishly for more than ten years while working in the military. Pastor Shackelford was medically retired in March of 2008, which turned into him serving as pastor full time. Pastor Shackelford is also an active member of community; volunteering and tutoring at several schools. He also visits and counsels medical hold soldiers that are returning from the war. Pastor Shackelford ministers with a heart- felt compassion to see people living a truly blessed life.
